Brazilian Butt Lift

For some women, the curves that get them noticed are something that they were born with, while others can attain a round, shapely behind through exercise.
But if genetics and fitness aren’t giving you the perky butt you desire, Michigan Cosmetic Surgery can help. We offer Brazilian Butt Lifts to help you achieve the better behind you’ve always wanted, using traditional fat transfer or Sculptra fillers.
What is a Brazilian Butt Lift?
A Brazilian butt lift is a choice for buttock augmentation that is rapidly gaining in popularity, thanks to celebrities that flaunt enviable backsides. Even though buttock augmentation procedures have been around for over twenty years, they used to be a surgery that was seldom performed, however, the recent focus on achieving a beautiful behind has caused a surge in the requested number of Brazilian butt lifts at Michigan Cosmetic Surgery. In fact, while only about 10,000 Brazilian butt lifts were performed in 2013, by 2016, that number had doubled and continues to rise.
A Brazilian butt lift traditionally utilizes what is known as fat transfer, or fat grafting. This technique uses your own excess fat cells to enhance your behind, improving the shape and size, addressing issues of asymmetry or proportion, and lifting and rounding flat or sagging buttocks. The second option we offer at Michigan Cosmetic Surgery is a Brazilian butt lift that uses Sculptra, a long-lasting dermal filler that not only fills in the areas that need a boost in volume, but also stimulates your body’s natural collagen production, helping to keep the augmented areas plump for a longer period of time.
Am I Candidate for a Brazilian Butt Lift?
A Brazilian butt lift offers several benefits, including:
- Increased fullness, roundness, and projection of your buttocks
- Improved balance and proportion of your overall body shape
- Decreased appearance of cellulite
- Restored volume to sagging buttocks
- Little to no visible scarring
- Enhanced self-image and confidence
A Brazilian butt lift can benefit almost anyone, whether you’re in your 20s and are looking for more dramatic curves, or in your 40s and want to boost an aging behind. Ideal candidates for a Brazilian butt lift are in good health overall, have enough excess fat around their abdomen, flanks, and thighs to be used for the procedure (if utilizing fat transfer) and have realistic expectations for their results.
What to Expect From Your Brazilian Butt Lift Procedure Using Fat Transfer
A Brazilian butt lift is performed as an outpatient surgery. If you’ve decided to use fat transfer for your lift, Dr. Awada will use liposuction to carefully harvest fat cells from the areas of your body selected for extraction, typically the flanks, abdomen, or thighs. Once the liposuction step is complete, the extracted fat is carefully cleaned and processed to remove all impurities and leave only the highest quality of fat cells to transfer. Dr. Awada only uses the best quality fat cells for the procedure, resulting in more volume and longer lasting better looking results.
Once the fat has been processed and purified, it is then transferred into your buttocks via a series of small injections. These injections are placed just under the skin at varying depths, carefully avoiding muscles and blood vessels. This step of the procedure requires skill, precision, and experience, and Dr. Awada is meticulous in her injection technique to ensure your safety as well as providing beautiful results are achieved.
After your procedure, you may experience some bruising and swelling in the areas where the fat cells were harvested, although any pain or discomfort can be managed easily with over-the-counter pain medication. You will be required to wear a compression garment after the procedure to help reduce swelling and ensure proper healing.
Dr. Awada will provide you with post-surgical instructions, and one of the things that is vital to ensuring beautiful results is remembering that you cannot put any direct pressure on your buttocks (including sitting or sleeping on your back) for at least eight weeks after your procedure. You will be required to utilize a special pillow to sit and lay on during your recovery. If any pressure is directly on your buttocks, it reduces blood circulation to the area, which can potentially destroy the transferred fat cells before they have a chance to settle into their new home. Your results are considered permanent, though they can be affected by weight loss, weight gain, and the natural aging process.
What to Expect From Your Brazilian Butt Lift Procedure Using Sculptra
What if you do not have enough fat to transfer or you do not want surgery?
We can use Sculptra for your Brazilian butt lift and the procedure eliminates the liposuction step, meaning that it can be done with very minimal recovery requirements. Dr. Awada will numb the skin around the area with topical lidocaine to alleviate any discomfort you might experience. Once the skin is numbed, Dr. Awada will use a small needle to inject Sculptra into your upper buttocks, helping to add to the curve of your buttocks, as well as improving the texture and smoothness of the skin.
Depending on your final desired results, you may need up to three treatments, spaced about six weeks apart. While you may see some immediate results, because Sculptra relies on your body’s natural processes to boost its effectiveness, it can take up to six months to see your complete results.
There are minimal downtime and side effects associated with the Sculptra procedure, which are just two of the benefits to using Sculptra versus fat transfer. Sculptra is long-lasting (up to two years), and can be an ideal choice for women who want to avoid the recovery associated with fat transfer, or those who don’t have enough viable excess fat to use in a fat transfer procedure.
