Let’s Turn Back the Hands of Time
The quest for the fountain of youth has been going on for centuries! Technology has made some significant advances in anti-aging skincare. At Michigan Cosmetic Surgery, we have the newest laser technology on the market and can truly make a difference in your skin!
Laser Skin Resurfacing – Your Anti-Aging POWERHOUSE
The anti-aging breakthrough of the decade is a skin-resurfacing treatment. Long thought to be the gold standard in wrinkle removal — Two laser applications, called PicoWay® and Icon®, deliver powerful results without the traditionally harsh side effects or downtime of other older laser applications. You get all the benefits of laser resurfacing, still the best way to remove wrinkles, but you’re getting it without the downtime and without the horrendous complication rate seen with other lasers.
How Does it Work?
The natural aging process, combined with exposure to sun and pollution, destroys collagen, the main protein of connective tissue that keeps skin plump and line-free. Laser resurfacing uses beamlets and in the case of PicoWay delivers these beams through holographic lenses with energy light that bores tiny holes in the skin, which works to put the body’s natural collagen production on fast-forward shattering pigment and quickly building collagen. Laser resurfacing does this in a way that prevents damage to the top layer of skin, offering maximum results with minimal recovery time.

What Type of Skin Concerns Are Treated with IPL ICON MAXG?
IPL ICON MAXG reduces the overall redness, flushing, and tiny blood vessels associated with the condition and often improves acne breakouts which are common.
Sun damage to the face (photo-aging)
IPL ICON MAXG removes sun damage and reduces freckling and irregular blotchy brown pigmentation.
Sun damage to the chest and back (photo-aging)
Photo Rejuvenation reduces the freckling and irregular blotchy pigmentation on your chest, back, and shoulders to correct sun-damaged areas and improve the overall appearance of the skin due to excessive sun exposure.
Sun damage to the hands and arms (photo-aging, also called “age and liver spots”)
Photo Rejuvenation removes the freckling and irregular pigmentation to the hands and even the arms with improvement in the thin-skin appearance of sun-damaged hands.
What Should I Expect at my IPL ICON MAXG?
The treated area will be cleaned of lotions or makeup. Then a layer of cool numbing gel is applied to the face prior to the light pulse. Specific parameters are selected for each treatment depending on your skin evaluation, your skin type, and characteristics, and the extent of your skin damage to achieve optimal results. You will be lying comfortably while our licensed esthetician delivers a series of gentle pulses of a special light to the skin, in a non-invasive and safe manner. The procedure is typically very well tolerated with minimal discomfort.
How Much Downtime is Involved After an IPL ICON MAXG?
This is a non-invasive and gentle procedure with virtually no downtime. In most cases, you will immediately be able to return to work, apply makeup, and resume daily activities. We recommend that you avoid direct sun exposure and exposure to heat, such as hot tubs. Immediately following the treatment, the skin may appear red and flushed, and brown spots may appear darker for a short time. These changes gradually fade over a few hours to a few days as your skin heals. Makeup can be applied immediately following the procedure if necessary, so it is possible to return straight back to work.
When Will I See Results?
Even after your first treatment, your skin can look smoother and will have a more even skin tone. Improvement is gradual and will continue to be more visible after each treatment. Many individuals experience dramatic results only after 1-2 treatments; however, four to six treatments are recommended for optimal results. Some patients will benefit from additional yearly maintenance treatments.
PCA Retexturizing/Anti-Aging Peel
Unique peeling options for patients, including those with highly sensitive skin. 0.5% – 20% TCA solution will improve surface texture, fine lines, and wrinkles while promoting an even skin tone.
Redness Laser Treatment
Removes both distinct facial and leg veins, as well as diminishes overall redness.
